Course Overview

Aims:

  • To have an awareness of where information requests come from
  • To understand what is expected of you when attending Court and the etiquette expected
  • To understand the process of writing a Court Report.
  • To recognise key information within the report.

Outcomes:

  • Identify Subject Access Request (SAR) and Data Protection (DP) requests
  • To describe of the process of Court requests
  • To demonstrate an understanding of Public Law procedures/timetable
  • To describe the format of a Court Report and what is expected of practitioners
  • To  identify who to go to for advice and support

Audience:

Practitioners who are requested to supply a report/statement to Court. Particularly health visitors and school nurses, as well as all other practitioners, associated with safeguarding children and young people.

Pre-work:

A basic knowledge of “Working Together to Safeguard “ 2018; and the Department of Health 2015 guidance “Promoting the health and wellbeing of looked after children”

NMC guidance around the sharing of information.
