Course Overview

 

Point of note:

This training session is to support the MCA & DoLS eLearning that forms an essential part of your Quality & Safety training. Attendance to this virtual classroom training will not negate the need to complete MCA & DoLS eLearning.

Aims:

  • Describe what the Mental Capacity Act (MCA) is
  • Guide the process of understanding of the MCA in the workplace
  • Describe the practitioners role and responsibility in the decision-making process in everyday practice
  • Recognise and apply key skills to create effective support and management for patients with capacity concerns, or known diminished responsibility
  • Produce a reflection on learning and increased understanding of MCA
  • Have an understanding of the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard

Outcomes:

  • To understand what the Mental Capacity Act is and apply it in practice to ensure best practice in patient care and in practice and in record keeping
  • To have a basic understanding of Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard to ensure best practice in patient care and patient record keeping

Registered and unregistered colleagues in the Community Services

Delivery:

Delivered live by an experienced and qualified trainer via Adobe Connect – Virtual Classroom.
