Kate Morgan
Senior Professional Development Lead
Kate has 30 years of experience working in healthcare having trained as an Adult Registered Nurse. She started her career working in the acute setting in teenage oncology and then moved into the community where she qualified as a Specialist School Nurse. Kate also gained her NMC teacher qualification at this time and practiced as a community practice teacher for 8 years.
As a practice teacher, Kate always had an interest in education and sharing good practice and over the past 3 years has been with us as the lead for virtual placements. Along with a colleague, she developed a virtual practice placement model that offered the opportunity to enhance our learners practice experience alongside supporting frontline staff.
Her current role as Senior Professional Development Lead (PDL) has been a natural progression in leading our PDL team in ensuring our learners have high quality learning experiences.
Kate is committed to the learning and development of all learners with a specific focus on our pre-registration learners. By investing in our learners, allowing space and time to learn, widening opportunities, valuing our learners we role model expectations that support our learners to ensure they deliver high quality care, with a focus on the individual needs of our patients.
She’s worked alongside one of our university partners in having two papers being published regarding virtual practice placements for pre-registration learners.

Kate is a Professional Nurse Advocate (PNA) and is a member of the organisation’s PNA implementation group.
Her ongoing interest in communication and family dynamics led her to complete a two-year certificate in the theory of systemic practice with families and couples at the Institute of Family Therapy.
