Out on top! Rated ‘Outstanding’ in first inspection by Ofsted

The Learning Enterprise (TLE) are proud to announce they have been awarded an ‘Outstanding’ rating by Ofsted in their very first full Ofsted inspection, which was carried out at the beginning of October.

Inspectors rated 5 key areas: quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, personal development, leadership and management, and apprenticeships, achieving ‘Outstanding’ in all 5 areas resulting in an overall effectiveness rating of ‘Outstanding’.

The rating gave highly positive feedback on the Apprenticeship programme. They were particularly impressed with how leaders and managers “embedded equality, diversity, inclusion and safeguarding into the curriculum extremely effectively”, allowing apprentices to apply “their learning to ensure service users are treated with integrity and dignity”.

Ofsted commented on how through training, apprentices were able to “demonstrate outstanding resilience to work and study while the pandemic” continued “to place additional pressures on the health and social care sector”. They noted that “apprentices take on extra responsibility at work and actively seek opportunities to progress in their learning and careers”.

Former apprentice Kim Noad, who now works as a community support worker in Wiltshire for Virgin Care, believes her apprenticeship will help her to become a children’s nurse. She said:

“Getting the student experience through The Learning Enterprise has provided a good foundation for developing my role towards registration. Hopefully in five years I will be well on my way to becoming a nurse by using what I have learned in this apprenticeship to shorten the four-year nursing degree to two years”.

Sarah Van der Merwe, Head of Apprenticeships at The Learning enterprise, said:

“We are thrilled with the outcomes of our recent Ofsted inspection and are so proud of our assessors and learners.

The exceptional expertise of our team is what makes us unique as a learning and development provider; our assessors are trained to the highest levels to support efficient and effective delivery of our programmes. It is of the upmost importance to us that we are providing participants with valuable training, and our assessors work hard to plan programmes to support maximum outcomes”.

Jacqui Smart, Director of Operations at The Learning Enterprise, said:

“The Ofsted report has highlighted the remarkable feedback that we receive from employers and participants.

We believe in partnership working and it is incredibly important to understand the aims of the employers we work with and the locality they serve, so we can tailor our training accordingly. This is what allows us to collaborate effectively with employers and helps us to plan an ambitious curriculum that supports specifically aligned career progression. Our partnership with Virgin Care is an example of this”.

Samantha Kane, Chief People Officer at Virgin Care, said:

“I am delighted that The Learning Enterprise has been recognised as outstanding by Ofsted.

“A strong learning and development offer is important to offering our colleagues opportunities to develop, but also to enabling us to deliver what we do as a company: to change lives by transforming health and care.

“We want our colleagues to feel motivated and connected to their work and to offer them the opportunity to progress in their careers and through The Learning Enterprise we’re also able to help build the health and care workforce for the future.”

As well as apprenticeship courses, The Learning Enterprise offers a range of online, virtual and face to face training programmes for health and care professionals, which can be explored on this site.
