Adult Care Worker
Introduction
The Level 2 Apprenticeship in Adult Care is an occupational qualification for learners who work in Adult Care Settings in England. Ideally you will be frontline staff who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, making a positive difference to someone’s life when they are faced with physical, practical, social, emotional or intellectual challenges, enabling people to have control and choice in their lives.
You may work in a range of services e.g., hospital, nursing or care home, domiciliary care, day centres, and will be working in partnership with individuals, families, carers, and other service providers.
Level 2 Diploma in Adult Care
18 months
Assessed virtually
This qualification consists of 10 mandatory units covering knowledge and skills competencies, with optional specialisms which can be combined in flexible ways to reflect the real working context of different learners.
The mandatory units include (but are not limited to:
- Person centred approaches
- Communication
- Safeguarding
- Duty of care
- Handling information
You will also complete the 15 standards in the Care Certificate, a nationally recognised certificate.
As well as the on-programme assessment there will be an End Point Assessment which will be carried out by an external independent assessor. This will include:
- Multiple choice and short answer test
- Observation of practice
- A learning journal

Level 3 Lead Adult Care Worker
The Lead Adult Care Worker apprenticeship is ideally suited for experienced individuals who help adults with care and support needs to achieve their personal goals and live as independently and safely as possible, enabling them to have control and choice in their lives by assisting them with daily activities such as eating, dressing, washing, and monitoring overall comfort and wellbeing.
