The aim of this learning is for the learner to develop the knowledge and theory related to child development and attachment in relation to the role of fostering and adoption.

Learners will be able to:

  • Identify factors that can influence a child's development, attachment and adverse trauma behaviour
  • Identify current advice and guidance on infant feeding and weaning
  • Discuss current advice and guidance on bathing, sleeping and dental care
  • Identify the support available to carers and parents
  • Describe ways in which parents and carers can encourage and ​support baby-led play
  • To understand the key elements of Perinatal mental health
