Course summary

This learning provides the underlying theory, guidance and support to individuals undertaking the role of fostering and or adoption.

Applicable audience	This learning is suitable for anyone who provides care and support related to fostering and adoption.
Pre-requisites	There are no pre-requisites required for this learning.
Delivery method	This learning is delivered by a virtual classroom.
Duration	This learning will take 2 hours and 30 minutes to complete.
Materials and resources required	Learners should have access to a computer with an internet connection and Microsoft Teams.
Refresher	This learning should be completed as required.
Minimum/maximum learner numbers	A minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 learners are required for this learning.

The aim of this learning is for the learner to develop the knowledge and theory related to child development and attachment in relation to the role of fostering and adoption.

Learners will be able to:

Identify factors that can influence a child's development, attachment and adverse trauma behaviour
Identify current advice and guidance on infant feeding and weaning
Discuss current advice and guidance on bathing, sleeping and dental care
Identify the support available to carers and parents
Describe ways in which parents and carers can encourage and support baby-led play
To understand the key elements of Perinatal mental health
