The aim of this learning is to provide an awareness of safe moving and handling through exploring the risk factors associated with moving and handling and some of the injury that can be caused if moving and handling is not performed correctly.

Learners will be able to:

  • Explain their responsibilities in creating a safe working environment
  • Know their responsibilities to avoid putting themselves and others at risk
  • Describe how to safely carry out a moving and handling task
  • Explain when a risk assessment should be conducted and what control measures may be suitable
  • Identify injuries and risk factors that can occur due to moving and handling practices
