Diabetes Awareness Training


This course aims to provide an overview of the different types of diabetes and provide the knowledge and skills to care for a client/patient with diabetes.  Providing the knowledge and practical skills for safe administration of insulin medication. 


  • Describe the different types of diabetes​ 
  • Define normal blood glucose levels​ 
  • Recognise the symptoms of hypoglycaemia & hyperglycaemia and how to manage both conditions​ 
  • Describe the different types of medications and insulin used to manage this condition​ 
  • Describe the different injection sites for insulin administration and any sites to avoid​ 
  • Describe side effects of insulin therapy​ 
  • Define how and when to seek further help from medical team or call the emergency services to report concerns in patients condition​
