The aim of this learning is for the learner to acquire the knowledge and practical skills needed to gain the qualification Emergency First Aid at Work in compliance with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid Regulations 1981​.

Learners will be able to:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider​
  • Describe how to assess and manage an incident​ and provide first aid to a responsive casualty​
  • Explain the first aid needed for an unresponsive casualty and use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
  • Explain the first aid needed for a casualty who is choking​
  • Describe the cause of anaphylactic shock and its treatment
  • Describe the first aid needed for a casualty with external bleeding​
  • Describe the first aid needed for a casualty who is in shock​
  • Describe the first aid needed for a casualty with minor injuries
