This learning provides an understanding for those who are required to provide first aid in the workplace.

Applicable audience	This learning is suitable for anyone who is required to provide first aid in the workplace.
Pre-requisites	There are no pre-requisites required for this learning.
Delivery method	This learning is delivered face-to-face in a classroom.
Duration	This learning is delivered over a full day.
Materials and resources required	Learners will need to wear comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear for kneeling down to deliver CPR.
Refresher	This learning should be completed as required.
Minimum/maximum learner numbers	A minimum of 4 and a maximum of 12 learners are required for this learning.

The aim of this learning is for the learner to acquire the knowledge and practical skills needed to gain the qualification Emergency First Aid at Work in compliance with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) First Aid Regulations 1981.

Learners will be able to:

Understand the role and responsibilities of a first aider
Describe how to assess and manage an incident and provide first aid to a responsive casualty
Explain the first aid needed for an unresponsive casualty and use of Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
Explain the first aid needed for a casualty who is choking
Describe the cause of anaphylactic shock and its treatment
Describe the first aid needed for a casualty with external bleeding
Describe the first aid needed for a casualty who is in shock
Describe the first aid needed for a casualty with minor injuries
